Births
In the March quarter of 2025, there were 44 registered births—21 males and 23 females—representing a 13.7% decrease from 51 births in the December quarter 2024, averaging about four births per week.
The majority of mothers (20) were aged 30–34 years, followed by 7 mothers aged 20–24 years, 6 mothers aged 35–39 years, 4 mothers each in the under 20 and 25–29 years groups, and 3 mothers aged 40–44 years. No births were recorded to mothers aged 45 years and over
Deaths
In the March quarter of 2025, number of deaths rose to 41, averaging three per week, a 36.7% increase from 30 deaths in December quarter 2024. There were no infant deaths during this period.
Crude Rates
March 2025, the crude birth rate was 2.5 per 1,000 population, while the crude death rate rose to 2.4 per 1,000, resulting in a slight natural population increase.

Marriages
In the first quarter of 2025, the Cook Islands officiated 86 marriages, a 38.1% decrease from the previous quarter. Non-residents accounted for 88.4% of these weddings, with residents representing the remaining 11.6%.
