Total arrivals to the Cook Islands reached 17,579 in April 2026, comprising 16,076 visitors and 1,503 returning residents or permit holders. Visitor numbers surged 38.7 percent from March, marking a strong start to the travel season. The islands usually see their high peak from May through October, driven by the cooler Southern Hemisphere winter.

The majority of visitor arrivals came from New Zealand with 63.6 percent, followed by Australia with 23.0 percent, Europe 4.4 percent, and USA 4.2 percent.

Total resident departures grew by 8.0 percent this month, rising from 1,006 in March to 1,086 in April 2026.
